![Behind The Scene: Another Begging Bowl?](https://www.greatandhra.com/newphotos9/ga_politics1611037702.jpeg)
Andhra Pradesh till recently was famous as ‘the rice bowl of India’. Today, it has become the begging bowl of the nation thanks to the numerous appeals for financial assistance being made by the State government to the Centre.
Chandrababu Naidu has asked the Centre for a financial assistance of Rs 238 crore to take up relief works in drought hit districts of Chittoor, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Prakasam.
Normally, it would be perfectly understandable for the new State to seek assistance as it is facing a revenue deficit following bifurcation.
But is it not the TDP government which welcomed the ‘special package’ given by the Centre which actually gives more benefits to AP than Special status?
So, if the State has been given something far better than special status, why then do we need to extend our hands in supplication for a relatively paltry amount of Rs 238 crore?
If Naidu asks for a thousand crore, Modi will give 10 lakhs and that too in installments. Why then does Naidu keep playing the same game over and over again?
