Assume that you want to construct a house! You will first buy a plot of land according to your requirements, and then get a blueprint prepared by an architect, followed by getting the necessary permissions from the concerned departments and finally get down to the construction work itself, right?
But what if you initiate the whole process without a single penny in your pocket? Then you would obviously be termed a madman, right? But not if you happen to be Chandrababu Naidu, who is doing something similar with the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu has roped in management consultancy, ‘Ernst & Young’ to prepare the ‘Vision 2029 Document’ for Andhra Pradesh. The deal has been pegged at Rs 12 crore out of which an advance payment of Rs 2 crore has been made to ‘Ernst & Young’.
Is Naidu so confident of remaining in power till 2029? If the YSRCP, Congress or BJP come to power in 2019 or later, what is the guarantee that they will continue with Naidu’s vision statement? Naidu was elected because he promised the people of AP certain things. Should he not focus on delivering on his electoral promises first?
In fact, even earlier when Naidu was CM of united AP, he had a ‘Vision 2020 Document’ prepared. What has become of it? As the head of a united state with funds at his disposal, he could not implement 2020. Now he is speaking of 2029 by paying money to consultants when by his own admission the government is bankrupt.
Clearly a man with misplaced priorities.
