Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have become an big irritant for the managements of various commercial banks, so much so that they are now said to be avoiding attending his meetings of late.
In the initial stages, the bankers used to attend the meetings called by Naidu to overcome the problems of demonetisation. However, when he started attacking them and abusing them, besides releasing statements to the media running the bankers down, they got agitated. They even threatened to complain to the Centre against Naidu.
But after Naidu was made the convenor of the Niti Ayog committee on demonetisation, the bankers were forced to attend his meetings, since he is heading a central panel. And the chief minister once again started attacking them for lack of currency.
He even threatened to complaint against them with the Reserve Bank of India, which is in regular touch with him.
As a result, senior bank officials have started avoiding meeting him. They are wondering how Naidu can give instructions to bankers.
“This is nothing but overstepping his jurisdiction,” they said.
