It’s a well-known fact that union minister Chiranjeevi let go of his MLA post and got elected to Rajya Sabha.
If one looks at it, there is a lot of difference between an MLA and a Rajya Sabha member.
Many feel that apart from being labeled a national level leader, the post does not come with much respect. In fact, those who go to the Rajya Sabha are being looked down.
The political parties have been giving Rajya Sabha membership to people with lots of money or those who are useful to the party but are ineffective on their own.
Well, the opinion is not totally baseless. Many criticized Chiranjeevi for opting to become a Rajya Sabha member despite having 18 MLAs.
Now, there are news reports which say that Balakrishna is contemplating a similar move, much to the angst of his fans.
Many of his fans and voters are wondering as to why Balakrishna who has the capacity to contest and win, is going the Rajya Sabha way.
But for now, these are mere rumours. Balakrishna had earlier declared that he would contest the polls for the MLA post. However, Harikrishna has recently resigned from Rajya Sabha. Now, Chandra Babu wants Balakrishna to fill the post as it would help him get the support of the Nandamuri clan during the coming elections.
In case Balakrishna does choose to go to Rajya Sabha, his political future is likely to go for a toss.
