Politics makes strange bed fellows, they say. It is quite common for politicians of different ideologies coming together and joining hands during the elections.
But certain combinations will never work out. For example, senior actor and Telugu Desam party MLA from Hindupur Nandamuri Balakrishna cannot expect to join hands with YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Reason is simple: Balakrishna is brother-in-law of TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and is also father-in-law of Nara Lokesh, Naidu’s son.
It is a different matter that Jagan is trying to woo the relatives of Balakrishna’s father legendary N T Rama Rao. In fact, NTR’s widow Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi is already a leader in YSRC.
On Monday, a flex board that was put up at Chandravaram village of Chagallu mandal in West Godavari district attracted the attention of the onlookers and also workers of both the TDP and the YSRC.
The board, which was erected welcoming Jagan into the area as part of his padayatra, also has the picture of Nandamuri Balakrishna, indicating as if Balayya is also coming to the village along with Jagan.
YSRC leader Annamreddy Narendra Reddy of Chandravaram, who installed the flex board, said he was a big fan of Balakrishna in films.
“But in politics, Jagan is my favourite hero. So in order to show my affection towards both the heroes, I put up both their images on the flex board,” he said.
Interestingly, another flex with Jagan’s picture in the same village has a different caption: “I am a Telugu man. And I belong to Telugu Desam.”
In adjacent Markondapadu village, another flex board has been put up with pictures of Jagan and Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan. Apparently, the local leaders want to show their affection to both the leaders!
