Babu's Rule Turning Despotic

Babu's Rule Turning Despotic

There was a time when Chandra Babu started the Janmabhoomi project to take 'government to the people'. But the very man is now showing signs of a despot who wants his people to abide by his rules and not question him.

Though the Janmabhoomi project is still on, Babu has disappointed many by recently promoting the ‘people running up to the government’ concept.

For starters, Babu has realized that it is next to impossible to meet the farmers in their villages and discuss their problems.

It has also dawned on him that not all farmers are willing to part with their ancestral farm lands under the concept of land pooling.

After claiming that the farmers were more than willing to give away their land as per land pooling, the farmers have made it clear that not all of them see it as a lucrative offer that promises them golden future.

So, Chandra Babu is making sure that the farmers now come all the way to Hyderabad. Babu will be meeting the farmer representatives this afternoon.

In fact, five farmers were hand-picked and they have been brought to Hyderabad by the ruling TDP which paid for their transportation charges.

But there is wide-spread discontentment as it is being said that all the ‘chosen’ farmers belong to the pro-TDP lobby.

So, even if the TDP brings in 25 farmers per village, they cannot talk on behalf of the rest of their village as each of them holds a different opinion. Land pooling is not a small issue. But the ruling TDP seems to have set aside all humanitarian considerations to go ahead with its dream project.

Many say that once Babu meets the farmers, he is likely to make an official announcement stating that the ‘farmers have agreed to the terms and conditions’.

Doesn’t this remind one of a despotic ruler? Will the new capital reflect the hopes and aspirations of people or the rulers?

Well, all answers now lie with the ‘great administrator’ Chandra Babu Naidu.
