Narendra Modi chose May 26 for taking oath as it was Somvara Pradosham, a very auspicious day, as per the Hindu calendar according to New Delhi sources.
Pradosham comes twice in a month and is supposed to be a significant day to worship Lord Shiva. If the day falls on a Monday (Somvara), then it is all the more auspicious.
Modi, according to sources, fasted the whole day. Sources said Modi will be shifting to the official residence of the PM only after May 30 as it needs some refurbishment and a havan is to be held too.
