Assembly Session Deferred For Medak Poll?

The Telangana government has postponed the budget session of the State Assembly to October keeping in view the by-elections to Medak Parliamentary seat.

This was the allegation made by BJP floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly Dr K Laxman on Saturday.

He requested Governor ESL Narasimhan to direct the government to convene the Assembly session to address the problems of people.

"Telangana has been facing serious problems which warrant immediate intervention of the government. Issues like Power crisis, Farmer debt waiver, Fee reimbursement of the SC, ST, BC, EBC, Minority students, viral fevers, the agitation of the unemployed youth, etc., need to be discussed immediately. In our day to day interaction with people and in our tour to the districts, we have been receiving several representations from the people expressing their woes," Dr Laxman said in a memorandum submitted to the Governor.

He alleged that the Telangana government was nonchalant in not merely addressing the issues but even in convening the Assembly which is its constitutional responsibility.

The TRS chief was apprehensive that if the Assembly session was convened, he would not be able to concentrate on Medak by-poll and send ministers for campaign.

“The entire official machinery is in Medak and it is not focusing on the Assembly session,” he said.
