It has become a fashion for political leaders to make controversial statements in the media and then blame it on the media for “distortion” when the situation goes against them.
Telangana agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, too, sought to blame the media for distorting his statement on farmers’ suicides.
In a face saving device, Pocharam on Saturday said that media had distorted his comment on farmers’ suicide issue. He said that he won’t apologize as demanded by the opposition leaders.
“Since I did not make any wrong comments against the farmers, there is no need for tendering an apology. In fact, the farmers committed suicides and the government would sure provide them adequate financial assistance,” he said.
The Agriculture Minister criticized the opposition leaders for making a hue and cry in the Assembly budget session.
‘They must not resort to create ruckus in the house on the farmers’ suicide issue’ he said.
"Instead, the opposition leaders of the Telugu Desam and Congress or BJP should participate in the debate on the issue to be conducted from Monday," he suggested.
