Judging by the current atmosphere prevailing in the state, it looks as if the TRS is going to win the GHMC polls.
The opposition parties have failed to present a suitable leader to take on KCR and his party. Revanth Reddy could have been a strong campaigner but Naidu getting caught in the cash-for-vote scam and subsequently keeping away from Hyderabad has severely dented the prospects of the TDP.
The Congress is in quite a pathetic state as it has been utterly unable to cash in on the Telangana sentiment. But why is the TRS so confident of the GHMC? The answer can be found in the statement of one TRS leader.
“Even if we fail to get the required numbers, the winning candidates from other parties will soon join us,” he said.
Indeed! Even if candidates win on TDP, Congress or other Party tickets, what if they soon cross over to the TRS?
KCR is openly encouraging these defections and it is a shame for democracy that Talasani Srinivas Yadav is able to move about in public as a TRS Minister despite still being an MLA of TDP officially. It is this breakdown of the system that makes the TRS so confident.
