During the election campaign, Chandrababu announced an across-the-board loan waiver for farmers and promptly won the polls. However, after becoming the CM, Naidu put a lot of riders to his promise such as making Aadhar mandatory, loan waiver only up to Rs 50,000 and a host of other things completely diluting his promise.
Because the loan waiver is not feasible! It will be a huge drain on the exchequer. But the games played by these politicians end up destroying lives.
Tension prevailed at Varagani village of Pedanandipadu mandal in Guntur district on Wednesday when a group of farmers attempted to attack the branch manager of a leading bank. Police reached the spot and rescued the manager, Krishna Murthy, by taking him to the police station.
Farmers held demonstration outside the bank demanding that the authorities stop auction of gold ornaments pledged with the bank.
The farmers alleged that the manager had put their jewellery on auction without serving notices on them. They said they had pledged gold ornaments as security for crop loans.
With the State government sitting on the loan waiver scheme, banks have started auctioning of gold ornaments.
