As many as six central ministers belonging to Seemandhra region resigned from their posts protesting against the Union Cabinet approving the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to pave way for formation of Telangana State, but one wonders how serious these ministers are about their resignations.
While four Union ministers --- Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, M M Pallam Raju, K Chiranjeevi and Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy put in their papers on Thursday night after the Cabinet decision, two others – D Purandeeswari and Killi Kruparani faxed their resignation letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC President Sonia Gandhi on Friday.
Though all of them made serious comments against the state bifurcation, none of them appeared to be very serious in getting their resignations accepted.
The Prime Minister spoke to Chiranjeevi, while Sonia had a talk with Pallam Raju, trying to pacifying them.
It is unlikely that their resignations are accepted in the near future and they, too, would not insist on the same till the agitations get subsided.
The others – J D Seelam, Panabaka Lakshmi and Kishore Chandra Deo are not interested in resignations.
