These days, officials of the Andhra Pradesh government, irrespective of the department they represent, are very much scared of one telephone number.
Yeah, your guess is right. The number belongs to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Office.
The officials are scared because they do not know when they get a call from this number. It could be as early as 5.30 am or midnight.
Some officials have complained to the media in private conversations that they get calls even when they are in washroom. And they are helpless and have no option but to answer the calls, while attending to the nature’s calls.
And the tele-conference does not end in 10 or 15 minutes. Sometimes, it will even be for two hours and the officials are cursing themselves for not able to complete even their daily routine like bathing and having breakfast.
“And most of the times, the telephonic talk does not have any subject and it may be of no concern to us. But, we need to be attentive, since the person speaking at the other side is chief minister,” an official lamented.
Apparently, Naidu does not want to keep the officials idle, but wants them to be on toes always.
“This is not the way to run the administration. If half of the time is spent only on talking with the chief minister, how can we do our normal job?” The official lamented before the media!
