A temporary truce was arrived at by AP and Telangana on the ‘water issue’ with the former agreeing for the release of 16.78 TMC ft for Hyderabad drinking water purpose.
The truce was brokered by the ‘Krishna River Water Management Board’ constituted by the Union Water Resources Ministry.
Both AP and T agreed to consider the capital consumption as joint consumption out of their quotas and hence any diversion of drinking water from Krishna sources should not lead to any confrontation.
What this essentially means is that Hyderabad being the common capital, both AP and T have agreed to share the drinking water for Hyderabad.
In that case, should not similar facilities be extended to AP in other aspects also? AP should supply drinking water to Hyderabad, but they cannot have their own police?
