In a bid to overturn the ruling of the Supreme Court that convicted politicians would forfeit their positions in the State Assemblies and Parliament, the Congress Party had contemplated bypassing this ruling by bringing in an ordinance to protect the tainted politicians.
This move by the Congress drew a lot of flak all across the country and even President Pranab Mukherjee is said to have expressed his inhibitions regarding the same.
But the Congress was hell bent on getting the resolution passed.
However, in a last minute drama, Rahul Gandhi came out against the ordinance, terming it absolute rubbish and fit only to be torn and thrown away.
This has prompted an immediate rethink by the heavyweights of the Congress and the ordinance might not be passed now.
Look at the double standards of the Congress!
When, millions of Seemandhra people have been suffering for the past two months for a united Andhra Pradesh, foregoing their salaries and livelihoods, the Congress turns a deaf ear to them.
But, when Prince Rahul comes out openly against an ordinance, they take it back immediately.
What kind of justice is this? It only goes to show how narrow minded the Congress is when it comes to the actual suffering of the people.
The opinion of millions of Seemandhra people does not count for anything, but one word from Rahul Gandhi and they are ready to take back their decisions.
