Antony Panel Coming To Andhra?

If the reports from New Delhi are to be believed, members of the A K Antony committee are likely to make a surprise and unannounced visit to Andhra Pradesh in a day or two to not only soothe the ruffled feelings of the Seemandhra people but also apprise themselves of the prevailing situation in the simmering region consequent to the decision to carve out a separate Telangana State.

Sources said Antony, along with AICC general secretaries Digvijay Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad are expected to reach Hyderabad, in all probability tomorrow, to study the situation in the trouble-torn Seemandhra region and hold talks with various stake holders to defuse the explosive situation by to address the concerns and apprehensions of the people.

The sudden decision of the Antony Committee members to visit the state seems to have been forced following the many parts of the region being plunged into darkness following the strike by the electricity employees besides adversely affecting the train services and water supply in the region.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC President Sonia Gandhi were stated to be seething with anger over the failure on the part of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy in taking required steps to avert the crisis.

Though they had directed the CM to act forthwith before the situation worsens, the Antony panel is learnt to be being despatched to initiate the needed measures to pull out the state from a virtual darkness.
