The legal battle launched by YSR Congress party MLA from Nagari and firebrand actress R K Roja against her one-year suspension from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for her alleged ‘indecent’ behaviour in the House has ended up in anti-climax.
After exhausting all her legal options, Roja had no choice but to send a letter to the office of Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao tendering an unconditional apology for her behaviour in the House and requesting him to revoke her suspension. It is likely to be accepted by the Speaker in the coming Assembly session.
It is very clear that Roja has failed to score over the Chandababu Naidu government, not because justice was not in her favour but because she was not given proper guidance.
Everybody knows that Roja had used abusive language against Naidu and other TDP members, only after the latter provoked her. While their words were not recorded, those used by Roja went on record.
However, her seniors in the YSR Congress party in the Assembly should have advised her to say a one word “sorry” in the House, which would have been more dignified than losing a legal battle.
In fact, except their leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, nobody supported her for using such a foul language. With his support, Roja waged a legal battle and lost. Now, if she said sorry, it would only amount to Jagan saying sorry!
