Andhra police in Delhi, keep eye on Lokesh?

For the last 10 days, Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh stayed back in the national capital of New Delhi to do hectic lobbying to bail out his father and party president N Chandrababu Naidu from the Andhra Pradesh state skill development scam.

As per the party sources, Lokesh was supposed to return to Vijayawada or Rajahmundry on Friday morning itself, but he had to stay back in Delhi following the rejection of Naidu’s petition in the high court seeking to quash the case filed against him by the CID.

For the last few hours, he has been holding hectic parleys with senior lawyers in Delhi to challenge the high court order in the Supreme Court. On Saturday, his lawyers moved the apex court accordingly.

There are reports that a team of Andhra Pradesh police, along with intelligence officials, have been camping in the national capital for the last two days, keeping a watch on the movements of Lokesh.

This led to the speculation that the cops are ready with the notice to be served on Lokesh in connection with the AP Fibernet scam and might take him into custody any time.

“In all probability, the arrest may happen soon after the police custody of Naidu is over by Sunday evening,” sources said.

The police are apparently suspecting that Lokesh might change places or even fly out of the country in case he gets any hint that he might get arrested in the Fibernet scam. That is why, they are keeping a vigil on his movements, sources said.

The YSRCP has already posted a message on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, saying a mouse may hide in a hole for some time, but it would have to come out at one point of time or the other to become meat for the cat.

“The law will not remain silent forever, even if Lokesh stays in Delhi in the name of eliciting support for Naidu from the national parties. The law will not leave those who commit a crime, even if one hides in space. At the most, it might take some time, but those who come up with scams and then script schemes to drum up sympathy cannot go scot-free,” the party said.

Lokesh is reportedly discussing the issue with his lawyers the scope for the CID to frame charges against him in the Fibernet scam and if they would stand up to legal scrutiny.
