Anam's Indecisiveness Cost Him His Seat?

The fate of former minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh politics has once again landed in uncertainty, thanks to his indecisiveness in joining the YSR Congress party.

Anam, who decided to quit the Telugu Desam Party on the pretext of lack of importance in the party, held several rounds of negotiations with the YSR Congress party leaders, including party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy twice.

Jagan reportedly told Anam first to join the party and assured to take care of his political interests.

It is learnt Anam wanted the YSRC ticket for his native constituency Atmakur but since sitting YSRC MLA Mekapati Gautam Reddy is strong, Jagan rejected it.

He knows that if Anam is given Atmakur ticket, it will trigger revolt from Mekapati family. So, he reportedly offered Venkatagiri ticket and asked Anam to consider it.

But Anam was in two minds in accepting Venkatagiri. But before he taking a decision on it, the chance was grabbed by former chief minister late Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy’s son N Ramkumar Reddy, who had hitherto been with the BJP.

On Monday, Ramkumar reacted quickly and resigned from the BJP to meet the YSRC chief and got an assurance for Venkatagiri seat.

Though the BJP desperately tried to prevent Ramkumar from leaving the party by offering him party state general secretary post, he preferred the YSRC as he knew that he had brighter chances of winning from Venkatagiri, which was represented by his mother N Rajya Lakshmi in the past.

Now, Anam is cursing his fate. He has lost both Atmakur and Venkatagiri and it is unlikely that he can get the YSRC ticket for any other constituency.

At the same time, he has lost the chance of returning to the TDP fold. So, what he is going to do remains an interesting question.
