Anam Wants No Hurdles In T-Process

It looks like Seemandhra leaders have given up the hope of keeping the State united and are, on after the other, now talking about the inevitability of separation.

On Friday, Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said since the Centre was determined to accord statehood to Telangana region, there was no use in trying to put hurdles. Appealing to the Congress leaders not to criticize the party leadership on its bifurcation decision, Anam said those who want to leave the Congress can do so but without causing damage to the party, he said.

He made it clear that Telangana Bill will be taken up in the winter session of Parliament. The related Draft Bill will be put to debate in the Assembly for a short time. Opining that there will not be much time for debate and opinion has to be sent to the Centre on bifurcation of the State, the minister said the party leaders are free to express their views and sentiments in the Assembly and Legislative Council in a peaceful manner.

“We have to honor the high command’s word on bifurcation”, he added.

Another Congress leader Thota Trimurthulu expressed similar views. He said the PCC chief will certainly take disciplinary action against the defiant party leaders. It is not proper to make criticism against the party high command, he added.

Meanwhile, Minister P Balaraju maintained that the high command’s decision on Telangana was final and irrevocable. When the Group of Ministers was finalising its report by December 4 and the Centre was firm on giving statehood to Telangana, we have to abide by the decision, he added.
