It is now certain that former minister and Telugu Desam Party leader from Nellore Anam Ramnarayana Reddy is all set to quit the TDP and join the YSR Congress party.
Anam met YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Friday evening and got the nod for his entry into the YSRC.
However, he did not get any assurance from Jagan as to which constituency he would be fielded in the next elections.
Anam reportedly expressed his desire to contest from his own constituency Atmakur, but Jagan told him to join the party first and work for strengthening it and the issue of his constituency could be sorted out before the elections.
However, even before he joined the party, Anam felt the resistance from within the local YSRC local leaders who have been opposing Anam for quite some time.
Sitting MLA from Atmakur Mekapati Gautam Reddy, son of Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, on Saturday made it clear that he would not give up his seat and contest from Atmakur only.
“We don’t mind Anam or anybody joining the YSRC. But their entry should not disturb the existing party structure. Anam can opt for any other constituency in Nellore but not Atmakur,” he asserted.
If Jagan wants to entertain Anam, he has to sacrifice Gautam Reddy. Then the Mekapati family might revolt against Jagan. Therefore, it is unlikely that Jagan will give ticket to Anam at the cost of Mekapati family.
May be, he will suggest another seat for Anam.
