Former minister and senior leader from Nellore Anam Ramnarayana Reddy is still undecided on his future course of action – whether to join the YSR Congress party or stay back in the Telugu Desam Party. His continued indecision is likely to cost him heavily.
Anam, who was feeling neglected in TDP despite he being named as party in-charge of Atmakur assembly constituency, made up his mind to join the YSRC.
On Friday last, he met YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at Hyderabad airport and discussed the probability of joining the YSRC. Jagan asked him to join the party and assured to take care of his political interests.
Within hours, sitting YSRC MLA from Atmakur Mekapati Gautam Reddy, son of Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, made it clear that he would not give up his seat and contest from Atmakur only.
“We don’t mind Anam or anybody joining the YSRC. But their entry should not disturb the existing party structure. Anam can opt for any other constituency in Nellore but not Atmakur,” he asserted.
This has reportedly left Anam in a quandary. Since Atmakur is his stronghold, he cannot move to any other constituency, which would again disturb the political equations there. So, he reportedly deferred his plans to join the YSRC.
In the meantime, the TDP leadership, which was trying to pacify Anam all these days, came to the conclusion that he is going to join the YSRC.
So, soon after Anam met Jagan, the TDP leadership started looking for alternative leaders in Atmakur. The party is now contemplating appointing new in-charge for Atmakur and also other local leaders.
If Anam delays his decision to join YSRC, even Jagan might not allow him later since he is running short of time for the elections.
At the same time, Anam cannot continue in the TDP as he has already met Jagan. So, it is time he takes a quick decision on his future!
