It has been just over two months since Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy had quit the YSR Congress party and his assembly membership, in protest against the alleged humiliation meted out to him in the party.
Latest reports indicate that Ramakrishna Reddy is likely to come back into the YSRCP.
He is expected to meet party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Tadepalli camp office on Tuesday.
Apparently, Jagan has sent a message to Ramakrishna Reddy through his brother and YSRCP MP Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, asking the MLA to meet him.
The party has so far not announced acceptance of his resignation nor was his resignation from the state assembly was accepted by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram.
According to sources, Ramakrishna Reddy held detailed discussions with YSRCP general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy.
The YSRCP leadership apparently acknowledged that Ramakrishna Reddy’s cooperation is very much essential, if the party has to defeat Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh at Mangalagiri.
Sources said Ramakrishna Reddy might be offered some prominent position in the party, besides Rajya Sabha ticket in the next elections or MLC seat next year. If he agrees to the proposal, he will be back into the party.
Ramakrishna Reddy has been representing Mangalagiri assembly constituency for the last two terms. In 2019 assembly elections, he defeated Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh, son of party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with a margin of 5,337 votes.
He has been instrumental in filing cases against the TDP leaders including Naidu in various alleged scams, like insider trading of lands in Amaravati, inner ring road scam, assigned lands scam etc.
After quitting the YSRCP, Ramakrishna Reddy joined the Congress party headed by Jagan’s sister Y S Sharmila. However, unlike Sharmila, he has not been making any strong criticism of Jagan and his government.
