The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders say the state is heading for becoming Bangaru Telangana (Golden Telangana) under the leadership of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, but his detractors say it is the family of KCR which has benefitted from the new state, rather than the people.
AICC incharge of Telangana affairs Digvijay Singh has pointed out that power in Telangana is concentrated in the hands of the Chief Minister and his family.
“The total power is concentrated in the hands of KCR, his son (IT Minister K T Rama Rao), his nephew (Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao), his daughter (K Kavita) and his family," Singh said.
There is a point in his argument. Except KCR, KTR and Harish Rao, there is hardly any minister who conducts review meeting of his own department regularly.
The ministers are just figure heads, as the officials of their departments report to the chief minister directly.
The ministers hardly come to the Secretariat and are mostly seen in their constituencies praising KCR and his family members. They make their presence felt at the inauguration of some programme or the other attended by KCR and his family members.
"He (KCR) is claiming Telangana tops the ease of doing business ranking. Yes, both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are doing well in ease of doing business. Because business is being done by two CMs (KCR and his AP counterpart Chandrababu Naidu) and corruption prevails in both states," Singh said.
