Tollywood comedian and advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government on electronic media affairs Mohd Ali is said to be preparing ground to contest the next year’s assembly elections in the state.
According to reports in a section of media, Ali is pretty confident that he would get the chance to contest the assembly elections on YSR Congress party ticket and enter the state assembly as an MLA, if not become a minister in the state cabinet.
He reportedly told his close confidants that his popularity and community factor would definitely help him get the YSRC ticket in the next elections. However, so far, he has not nurtured any constituency of his own from where he would contest the elections.
Reports said Ali has taken the help of a popular pre-poll survey agency to conduct surveys on his behalf to find out which constituency would be suitable for him to contest the elections and where he had the chances of winning.
According to these reports, the agency had zeroed in on four constituencies where he has brighter chances of winning – Guntur (East), Kurnool city, Kadapa city and Rajahmundry. If Ali is given the party ticket from any of these four constituencies, he can have a cake walk.
However, one wonders whether Jagan would give such a chance to Ali because there are strong contenders within the party for these seats.
“Unless, Jagan wants to change the sitting candidates, Ali will not get a chance to contest. Otherwise, he will have to look for alternative seats,” a source said.
At the same time, there is also a talk that Jagan might not give the MLA ticket to Ali at all, as there are too many contenders for the party seats.
“If there is a chance, Jagan might nominate Ali to the state legislative council, which is an easier option for him,” sources added.
