Kishen Reddy's third term as Telangana BJP President ended in October and according to the party's constitution, he will be ineligible for a fourth term.
The BJP having unofficially severed its ties with TDP in Telangana is on the lookout for a new leader. But the party high command is looking to appoint a BC leader to the top post in Telangana as BC’s constitute around 40% of the vote bank here. This is not the right way to groom the party.
The BJP should look for a person acceptable to all sections and who is educated and loyal. If caste were the only consideration, then KCR belonging to the Velama community could hardly be expected to have had a chance as his caste is hardly around 4% in Telangana.
So the key priority should be ability first, the ability to revive the party and take on the likes of KCR. Kishen Reddy and Bandaru Dattatreya have proved to be dismal failures at that.
