A Strange 'Mahakutami' In TS To Defeat TRS!

The arch-rivals Congress, TDP and BJP have joined hands in Telangana to stop TRS juggernaut in elections.

Shocked with successive defeats at the hands of TRS in all the elections in Telangana, all these parties have formed an unofficial ‘mahakutami’ to take on TRS and to ensure non-split of Opposition votes.

The split in Opposition votes has been making the job easier for TRS in all elections while Oppositions are suffering humiliating defeats by losing their deposit.

With this morale of party leaders and cadre is being hit, who are migrating to ruling TRS, putting the very existence of Opposition parties in question before 2019 general election.

These three parties are experimenting this formua  in the ensuing civic body polls in Khammam municipal corporaton and Atchampet municipality next week.

Under the agreement, in Achampet municipality which has 20 wards, the Congress has fielded 13 candidates, while the TDP fielded 4 and BJP 3.

Earlier this experiment worked in 2013 Sarpanch elections in Nakrekal in Nalgonda district and Jadcherla in Mahabubnagar district.

Opposition parties are hopeful that this mahakutami will work out this time and check TRS from sweeping municipal elections in Khammam and Achampet this time.

Former Congress MLA from Achampet, Dr Vamsi Krishna, took the initiative this time and extended the experiment to the entire municipality

TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has entrusted the job of winning the Atchampet municipality to industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao who has been taking whirlwind tours in the wards for the last few days.

Similar formula was also worked out for Warangal corporation election but the sudden defection by some Congress and TDP leaders at district and municipal level obstructed these plans.

It remains to be seen whether this unofficial mahakutami of arch rivals would be successful in reining in TRS in municipal elections.
