New crowned king of Telangana, KCR in a bid to show off his new found power went about granting sops and incentives to various castes and communities whether asked for or not.
First, it was the 43% fitment increase to government employees and then it was wage hikes for ‘home guards’ etc.
Blessed with a surplus budget, he choose the route of appeasing all and neglecting none and it has opened a Pandora’s Box for him.
Now the RTC strike is severely crippling daily life for commuters and with a compromise yet to be arrived at on the issue, the ‘108’ staff have now threatened to go on strike from tomorrow.
KCR was also keen on scoring political points over Chandrababu by agreeing to wage hikes. Whenever Telangana employees agitate and their demands are agreed to by KCR, a similar demand is raised by their Andhra counterparts.
With a serious deficit, Naidu cannot keep on matching the wage hikes. But the game has been stretched a bit too far. RTC and 108 tomorrow. Who next?
