As the spotlight is entirely on the 'cash-for-vote' scandal and its ensuing effects, what is going unnoticed are the so-called developmental programmes and welfare of the people.
Both AP and Telangana have announced capital-intensive programmes: new capital in AP and ‘Mission Kakatiya’ and ‘water grid’ programmes in Telangana.
Needless to say, these projects run into thousands of crores with plenty of opportunity for large scale corruption and loot of public resources.
With the focus now on both States and their diatribe against each other, it is a boon for the respective leaders KCR and Naidu to indulge in those projects while escaping public attention.
Ultimately, neither KCR nor Naidu will have any serious trouble to heir hegemony in the long run but as usual, it is the people of both sides that will suffer.
