When he was in the Congress party, former minister Danam Nagender was one of the most trusted lieutenants of the Sonia Gandhi family.
Whenever Sonia or Rahul came to Hyderabad, it was Nagender who used to be in the forefront in making arrangements for their tour so as to be in their good books.
Nagender was a known face in the AICC and he got immense recognition in the party as a true Congress loyalist.
Such an ardent fan of Sonia Gandhi family has now suddenly changed colour, after defecting into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
On Tuesday, Danam held a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan exclusively to attack Rahul Gandhi, who had been touring Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts for two days.
He described Rahul’s visit to Telangana as a big flop show. He said the Telangana people would not believe in the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
He alleged that the Congress leaders of Telangana were hiring people to attend the meetings of Rahul.
Danam attacked Rahul for not speaking in favour of Telangana in the last four years.
“He did not speak about Telangana even once in Lok Sabha. During its 10-year rule, the Congress had done nothing for the weak and marginalized communities.
While Rahul Gandhi is speaking about social justice, the welfare of all communities is being looked after by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,” he alleged.
He went on to say that the Seemandhra people would stand by KCR in the next elections, as he had transformed Hyderabad into a global city.
“Rahul cannot bring the Congress to power in the state in the next elections irrespective of when they take place,” he said.
