5 ministers in Jagan cabinet to face the axe?

There have been reports that YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is very angry with some of his cabinet colleagues about their indifferent attitude.

During the last week’s cabinet meeting, Jagan openly expressed his displeasure over the non-serious functioning of three ministers and warned them that he might have to drop them, if they don’t mend ways.

“I may have to find alternative leaders in your place, if you continue to be non-serious in your functioning and indifferent in countering the opposition onslaught,” Jagan is learnt to have told them.

Sources, however, said Jagan is not angry with not just three ministers, but at least five of them, including two women ministers and all of them were newly inducted in the cabinet during the reshuffle in April.

These ministers are charged with concentrating on making more money, rather than countering the Telugu Desam Party leaders, who have been making wild allegations against Jagan and even his family members.

Incidentally, these ministers had enjoyed good positions in the TDP in the past and defected to the YSRCP later to become ministers. Jagan is learnt to have come to know that they are still maintaining secret relations with the TDP even now.

It was brought to the notice of the chief minister that the cousin of one of these ministers had attended the marriage of a TDP leader’s daughter in the constituency and presented a gold ornament worth over Rs 5 lakh.

The TDP leaders in this constituency have been attacking Jagan and his government, but have never uttered a single word against this minister, the party leaders told Jagan.

Another woman minister, who has also been given an important position in the north-coastal Andhra, has never made any statement in favour of the government or the party.

Jagan is learnt to have decided to wait for some time before axing them from the cabinet. Those who are facing the threat include those from Palnad, Rayalaseema, central coasta and north-coastal Andhra.

Following a warning from the chief minister, some of these minister issued statements criticising the TDP, but it appears certain that they might lose the post.

So, one can expect a cabinet revamp in another two or three months!
