2,000 Acres For Poor In Hyderabad?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is making every effort to woo the people of Hyderabad, ostensibly in view of the forthcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

With the High Court giving time to the government till December to hold GHMC elections, KCR is doling out one sop after the other to attract the voters of the city.

On Wednesday, he announced construction of two lakh houses for the poor people in Hyderabad in the first phase and asked the GHMC authorities to acquire 2,000 acres for the same.

Take possession of the land after acquiring it in any vacant lands in Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills or any other posh areas which is left unused or undeveloped, KCR said.

He also announced the launch of a five-day “Swatch Telangana - Swatch Hyderabad” programme at a whopping cost of Rs 1,000 crore.

He plans to rope in all sections of people including ministers, people’s representatives, businessmen, industrialists and institutes.

The city will be divided into 400 areas and a committee of 15 members will be formed and about 6000 in-charges will work for the programme. Every person will participate in cleansing one and half kilometer stretch, he said.
