10-year special status to AP: BJP slogan

Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to go to polls in Seemandhra region with a campaign that it would provide special status to residuary AP for a period of 10 years, instead of five years granted by the UPA government.

The BJP leadership will make it a poll plank and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would focus his campaign mostly in the Seemandhra region.

Since Modi has the bright chances of becoming the PM, the BJP hopes that this 10-year special status slogan will go down well with the people.

Addressing “Modi for PM” rally in Nellore on Sunday, BJP national leader M Venkaiah Naidu said if BJP returns to power at the Centre, it would extend duration of special package from five to ten years.

Enumerating steps taken by the BJP for development of the Seemandhra and Telangana regions, Naidu said his party was committed for smaller States and appealed to the people to vote for BJP.

Ridiculing the statement of Union minister Jairam Ramesh for saying Rs 50,000 crores would be provided to the Seemandhra region for faster development, Naidu asked from where this huge amount the Centre would mobilize.

Stating that Telangana State came into being with his party’s active support, Venkaiah said neither he nor his family members would contest in the ensuing elections.

He also wondered as to why Kiran Kumar Reddy was floating a new party. He said they have no objection if cine actor Pavan Kalyan floats a party and work for public welfare.
