YSR Congress party on Monday lashed out the visit of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to Sri City special economic zone in the morning, saying it was just a publicity stunt.
Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Gudivada Amarnath said Naidu was making false claims on the companies that have come up in Sri City, though they were started during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime.
He said Naidu was making a false propaganda during the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremonies of industries in Sri City and urged him to focus on real development works and stop spreading false claims.
Amarnath told reporters in Visakhapatnam that many of these industries had been initiated during the tenure of the YSRCP government, but Naidu is now claiming credit by holding ceremonies for projects that were already underway.
He explained that several companies had begun operations, and agreements had been made long ago during the 2023 Global Investors' Summit (GIS) held in Visakhapatnam.
He said that many of the ongoing projects, including land allocations and foundation stones in Sri City, were done under the Jagan regime, even during the challenging COVID-19 period.
Amarnath also highlighted that their government signed over 386 agreements during the 2023 GIS, and the current inaugurations were linked to these earlier agreements.
He added that several international manufacturing companies are now operational in Sri City due to the efforts of their government, which had also coordinated with the central government to resolve visa-related issues when necessary.
