YSRCP office in govt land, no permissions!

YSRCP office in govt land, no permissions!

Even as the YSR Congress party leaders have begun raising a hue and cry over the demolition of the building of their party central office at Tadepalli, the state government came up with a clarification stating that the building was coming up in the land belonging to the irrigation department and it has not obtained any permission for the construction.

Quoting a letter from Irrigation department’s engineer-in-chief C Narayana Reddy on February 2, 2023, the state government said there were clear order from the state high court in the past that no constructions should be allowed on irrigation lands and similar cases were still pending in the National Green Tribunal.

The clarification said the boat yard land where the YSRCP central office building is being constructed, is part of 17 acres of the department land, of which KW main canal occupies 8.93 acres and another 5.13 acres was proposed for Seed Access Road of Amaravati capital city.

“The remaining 2.97 acres of land is the boat yard land which is adjacent to the KW Main Canal. The irrigation department is planning to establish Andhra Pradesh Water Land Management Training Institute (WALAMTI) along with Andhra Pradesh Engineering Research Laboratories (APERL) in the above said boat yard land,” the letter said.

It said in view of the above circumstances, it may not be possible to allot the above Boat Yard land for construction of YSR Congress Party office.

The TDP leaders have pointed out that the APCRDA, irrigation and revenue departments have not handed over the land to the YSRCP.

“They haven’t even applied for the building plan to construct the office. Yet, the party went ahead with the construction,” they alleged.

Meanwhile, YSRCP president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy called for state-wide protests by the party workers against the demolition of the party building.

“There is no law and justice in the state. Chandrababu Naidu has been resorting to political vengeance. He is behaving like a dictator and ordered demolition of near-completed building of the YSRCP central office with bulldozers, against the high court orders,” he alleged.
