YSRCP And TDP To Face Ballot Battle Number#2

YSRCP And TDP To Face Ballot Battle Number#2

Everything is set in place for the municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh on February 10.

In all 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities and nagara Panchayat are set to elect their new team after a gap of nearly three years.

The local body elections were originally scheduled for 2018.

As the then TDP government was not ready for local elections ahead of the 2019 general elections, they were postponed then.

Later, after Jagan Mohan Reddy firmed the government in June 2019, he decided to hold the elections in March 2020.

However, the process was stopped by State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar in the name of covid 19.

The polls were resumed in January 2021 after series of legal battles between the state government and Nimmagadda.

Now it looks as if the warring Government and SEC have come to terms on completing the poll process, which made the toughest job easier.

There are 7552 candidates in the fray after the unanimous elections to some municipalities and some wards.

Elections to the Eluru Municipal Corporation were set aside by the high court as there were complaints from the locals on electoral rolls.

SEC Nimmagadda said that arrangements were in place and the polls would go peacefully.

As it appears, the ruling YSR Congress is all set to win all the 12 Municipal Corporations though the opposition TDP is giving tough fight in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Ongole.
