YSRC, too, to fight Karnataka polls?

YSRC, too, to fight Karnataka polls?

It was only on Friday that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that his party would contest the forthcoming assembly elections in Karnataka, scheduled to be held in May.

KCR also announced that the BRS would have an electoral alliance with the Janata Dal (S) in Karnataka and campaign for the party.

He also vowed to fight for making JD (S) leader H D Kumaraswamy as the next chief minister of Karnataka.

Apparently, the BRS wants to test its fortunes in the erstwhile parts of Hyderabad state covering Bidar, Gulbarga, Osmanabad and Parbhani etc., which are closely associated with Telangana, while supporting the JD (S) in rest of Karnataka state.

Interestingly, there is a latest report that YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, too, is keen on contesting a few seats in Karnataka in the forthcoming elections.

According to reports doing rounds in the social media, YSRC is entering the 2023 Karnataka polls and contest some seats in alliance with the BSR Congress party headed by mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.

“The first round of talks between Jagan and Janardhan Reddy ended on a positive note,” a tweet said.

Apparently, Jagan is choosing the constituencies dominated by Telugus, especially settlers from Andhra region in a big way.

There are a large number of Telugu people from Andhra and Rayalaseema, settled in various parts of Karnataka for jobs, real estate business and software sector.

The areas where the YSRC might field its candidates are: Raichur, Chikkaballapur and Kolar, Sidhanur, Devadurga, Bellary, Siriguppa. Chitradurga etc.

“The YSRC is focussing on wining a least a dozen seats in the neighbouring state,” sources said.
