Former minister and YSR Congress party legislator from Venkatagiri assembly constituency in Nellore district Anam Ramnarayana Reddy once dominated the district politics, when he was in the Congress in the past and later in the Telugu Desam Party post-bifurcation.
But ever since he got elected on YSRC ticket in 2019, Anam has been feeling completely neglected in the district politics.
He has not been getting along well with young MLAs like P Anil Kumar Yadav, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Mekapati Gautam Reddy, who have been completely dominating the district.
As a result, even the district officials have started ignoring Anam – whether with regard to entertaining his group in the developmental works or honouring the protocol during the official functions. This has turned out to be a big humiliation to Anam, who happens to be the senior-most MLA in the district.
What angered Anam was that on August 15, the officials did not even bother to invite him to the Independence Day celebrations in his own constituency Venkatagiri for flag hoisting. It was a big shock to Anam and he felt it was a clear case of breach of his privileges as an MLA.
Though the officials tried to give him an explanation for their goof-up, Anam felt that it was deliberately done at the behest of his own party leaders in the district.
He lodged a complaint with state assembly privileges committee stating that the district officials had humiliated him by not inviting him to the flag hoisting function.
In his written complaint, Anam said the officials had indulged in breach of privilege and demanded action against them for not honouring the protocol.
Interestingly, the privileges committee is headed by YSRC MLA Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, who also hails from Nellore district.
Though Kakani is not a rival of Anam, he can do little due to dominance of other MLAs. He, however, assured to take action against the officials after a due inquiry.
