It appears YSR Congress party has kept its option open on which coalition it should support – the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or the grand alliance of all anti-BJP opposition parties, including the Congress.
It has been indirectly revealed through the statement of YSR Congress party general secretary and parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy through a tweet on Monday.
In his tweet, Sai Reddy said: “The NDA with 30 parties is meeting in Delhi and 24 opposition parties are meeting in Bengaluru but this time, the road to Delhi in 2024 will pass through AP. The Govt. at the Centre will be possible with the support of @YSRCParty as it has the blessings & popular vote of the people of AP.”
He went on to add: “All the surveys done so far, including those by national media, indicate YSRCP will again have a massive victory.”
Sai Reddy’s message has a message to both the Congress as well as the BJP that the YSRCP is ready for joining either group, depending on whichever coalition that comes to power at the Centre after 2024 general elections.
Though the YSRCP has been maintaining close relations with the BJP-led central government and drawing maximum benefits from it, it has been maintaining a safe distance from the BJP. However, it has not been making any attack on the saffron party despite provocation from the local leaders.
At the same time, the YSRC leaders are also not bothering much about the Congress which has no stakes in AP. But Jagan reportedly told the party leaders not to make unnecessary comments on Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi, to be on the safe side.
Interestingly, Sai Reddy’s tweet has not been taken seriously by the netizens. One of the netizens commented: “BJP got 0 in AP in 2019 and 303 other than AP. So, save your rhetoric to your party meetings. All 25 MPs in AP belong to BJP. No matter which party wins!:
Another netizen observed that the YSRCP may not get so many seats to decide on which coalition that comes to power at the Centre in 2024.
“Am from Bengaluru and I don’t think road to Delhi in 2024 is not possible via AP bcoz there are no good roads,” he said, in a sarcastic tone, adding that the YSRCP may get 5 MP and 50 MLAs at the most.
One more netizen observed that the YSRCP had already surrendered to the BJP. “23 MP lu isthe… Modi kalu deggara pettindru..” (People gave it 23 MPs, but they were made to prostrate before Modi).
