YSRC Holds Counter-Rally Defending Three Capitals

A day after the farmers of Amaravati held a big rally at Rayapudi on the occasion of completion of one year of their agitation against the three capitals plan of Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress party held a counter rally on Friday.

While the farmers were demanding that the capital city be retained at Amaravati as envisaged originally, the YSR Congress party leaders who led the rally in Guntur, strongly pitched for the three capitals for the state for a decentralised development.

The YSRC rank and file took out the rally from Lodge Centre to Market Centre and raised slogans in support of three capitals.

While the Amaravati public meeting was addressed by various opposition leaders including Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRC rally was attended by MLAs Maddali Giridhar, Mustafa and Meruga Nagarjuna.

The YSRC leaders said the people across the length and breadth of the state were supporting Jagan’s decision to form three capital cities, which would help inclusive growth and decentralised development.

“The agitation by the TDP and the so-called farmers was only to safeguard their real estate interests and with selfish motives. However, the people all over the state were welcoming the government’s decision because development was possible only with three capitals,” a YSRC leader asserted.
