Jagan Mohan Reddy is known for surprising everyone with the allocation of tickets to MLA candidates.
In the 2019 elections, he granted the ticket for many common men with no political background or experience, who went on to win and wield their political influence.
This time again, to the astonishment of many, YS Jagan is in the process of granting the ticket to another poor SC candidate named Eera Lakkappa. This choice is unexpected, as Eera Lakkappa's name is relatively unfamiliar in political circles. He has been selected to replace the sitting MLA, Tippeswami, in the Madakasira constituency.
Eera Lakkappa has been a dedicated member of the YCP since its inception, drawing the attention of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Hailing from Palaram of Gudibanda mandal, he has served as a Sarpanch.
Although he studied only up to intermediate, he is recognized by the people in his vicinity as sincere and hardworking in the service of the community.
His candidacy is supported by all 74 Panchayat Presidents, ZPTCs, and MPTCs, demonstrating his integrity and positive relationships with his colleagues.
The official announcement of his candidacy is imminent, and currently, he holds the position of in charge for the constituency, appointed by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Everything is fine, but the point is, among the candidates who had the chance to contest and win in this category in 2019, some of them are branded as corrupt.
The locals in the constituency express how some ordinary individuals turned MLAs and MPs have become corrupted. Though the reality needs to be checked, such talk wouldn't have arisen if there were no iota of truth.
We need to see if the new emerging candidates, with the decisions of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, uphold their honesty or succumb to corruption with power.
