Even as the Telugu Desam Party leaders are making tall claims that the party would comfortably come to power in alliance with the Jana Sena Party in the ensuing assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, yet another national survey predicted a massive victory for YSR Congress party.
A latest survey conducted by national television channel Times Now, in collaboration with ETG has revealed that the YSR Congress party would win 24-25 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the coming general elections, while the TDP would get zero or at the most one Lok Sabha seat.
Translating this into the assembly seats, the YSRC is expected to win almost all the 175 assembly seats, as being emphasised by party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. If at all the TDP wins, it will win a maximum of seven assembly seats.
In terms of vote share, the survey predicted that the YSRCP would get 51.10 percent votes, while the TDP would get only 36.40 percent votes. The Jana Sena would get 10.10 percent votes and the BJP only 1.30 percent.
This would mean the YSRC vote share would go up and that of the TDP will come down compared to 2019 elections.
Even if the TDP, Jana Sena and the BJP fight the elections together, their voting percentage will not fetch them victory.
The channel claimed that the survey was conducted among a fairly large sample of over 1.30 lakh voters between August 11 and October 1.
This is not the first time that the Times Now-ETG predicted such a massive victory for YSRC. In August, too, the same group predicted a similar outcome in the state in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Since the survey was conducted till October 1, the channel has obviously taken into consideration the developments post-arrest of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. It means, there will be a little impact of Naidu’s arrest on the state political scenario.
With regard to Telangana, the Times Now-ETG survey says the Bharat Rashtra Samithi would get 9-11 MP seats, the Congress would get 3-4 seats and the BJP 2-3 seats.
