Over the past five years, the opposition in Andhra Pradesh has criticized the development work done in Visakhapatnam under the YCP government.
Despite former Minister Gudivada Amarnath focusing on Visakhapatnam while managing the Industries Ministry, YCP leaders now point out that the TDP alliance is taking credit for bringing projects to the city. This is largely due to YCP's failure to effectively promote its own initiatives.
For instance, the YCP government successfully brought TCS to Visakhapatnam two years ago, with all related proposals finalized.
In 2022, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy held discussions with Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, and everything was set, including the identification of a site for the project.
However, YCP has been slow in highlighting these achievements. Additionally, a Mart is currently under construction in Visakhapatnam, with Jagan himself laying the foundation stone as Chief Minister. Yet, YCP has failed to promote this project as well.
Now, YCP leaders claim that the opposition alliance is preparing to take credit for its inauguration.
The opposition's narrative, particularly the claim that Lulu Group was forced out of Visakhapatnam, gained traction among the public at the time.
YCP’s failure to communicate that they brought both the Mart and TCS to the city has led people to believe that no significant development occurred under their leadership.
It is said that both government leaders and public representatives have fallen short in this regard. There is a belief that even minor accomplishments must be consistently publicized to ensure future political gains.
YCP is thought to have missed this crucial strategy, which may explain their failure to secure a single seat in Visakhapatnam.
