If the reports coming from YSR Congress party sources are to be believed, former Ongole MP and chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s uncle Y V Subba Reddy is going to be appointed as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board.
Sources said the government might issue orders abolishing the existing TTD trust board headed by senior Telugu Desam Party leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav any time and appoint a new board to be headed by Subba Reddy.
In fact, there was a talk that Tirupati MLA and former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy was also in the race for the post for a second term, in case he cannot be accommodated in the Jagan’s cabinet. But the YSRC president is learnt to have finalised Subba Reddy’s name.
In fact, Subba Reddy had sacrificed his MP seat in favour of former MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy who had defected from the TDP in the last moment.
For quite some time, Subba Reddy was sulking for being denied the MP ticket, but Jagan had promised to take care of his interests. It was learnt Jagan had promised him either Rajya Sabha seat or TTD chairman post.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that former Khammam MP and industrialist Ponguleti Srinivasulu Reddy will be appointed as TTD trust board membership under Telangana quota.
Ponguleti, who got elected on YSRC ticket in 2014 and defected to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi later, still continued his good relations with Jagan.
He was, however, denied the TRS ticket for Khammam seat in 2019 and was sulking. But, he did not quit the TRS for his own business interests.
So, for his loyalty to the TRS, the party leadership is understood to have recommended Ponguleti’s name to Jagan as TTD trust board member.
