In a significant development in the case involving YSR Congress party leader and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the Vijayawada police are likely to present Mudunuri Satyavardhan, who was allegedly kidnapped by Vamsi’s followers, in court on Monday to record a fresh statement.
Officials have filed a petition to record his statement under Section 164 of the CrPC.
The police have already recorded his statement under Section 161, and the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court is expected to assign a judge for the statement recording.
In his Section 161 statement, Satyavardhan alleged that Vamsi’s associates kidnapped and threatened him, forcing him to falsely claim that he had no connection to a case related to an attack on the TDP office.
In connection with the alleged kidnapping and threats against Satyavardhan, the police have booked 11 associates of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, arresting five of them, while the remaining six are currently absconding. The police are actively searching for them.
Investigators have also obtained CCTV footage showing Vamsi’s followers kidnapping Satyavardhan, taking him in their cars to the former MLA’s residence in Hyderabad, and later presenting him before the court in Vijayawada.
Additionally, the police are searching for Vamsi’s personal phone, which he allegedly used to threaten Satyavardhan and instruct his followers to carry out the kidnapping.
The police have also filed a petition requesting the court to grant a 10-day custody period for Vallabhaneni Vamsi to facilitate further investigation.
