Former Additional Advocate General and current YSR Congress Party General Secretary in charge of legal affairs, Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, has issued a stern warning to the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government, headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, for allegedly harassing YSRCP leaders.
Ponnavolu played a key role in sending Naidu to jail for 52 days in 2023 in connection with the AP Skill Development Corporation scam and held press conferences across the country to portray Naidu as a major scamster.
Now, with the TDP government allegedly retaliating and imprisoning several YSRCP leaders in various cases, Ponnavolu declared that tough times lie ahead for Naidu once the YSRCP returns to power in the next elections.
“What we showed Naidu during our previous tenure was just a trailer. We will show him the full movie once our party regains power in the upcoming elections,” Ponnavolu warned.
He asserted that Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his five-year term as Chief Minister, strictly adhered to the rule of law. However, the current ruling party, he alleged, is harassing and targeting YSRCP leaders in clear violation of legal norms.
Speaking to reporters at the office of former MLA Bolla Brahmanayudu in Vinukonda, Palnadu district, Ponnavolu referred to an incident in Bommiraju Palle of Epuru Mandal, where the police arrested one Nageswara Rao for making a satirical comment against the government.
“How can that be considered a crime? When the police took Nageswara Rao into custody, we immediately filed a lunch motion petition in the High Court, challenging such illegal arrests,” he said.
Criticizing the lack of progress in a murder investigation, he also pointed out that even after a year, the police have failed to solve the case of a woman’s murder in Enugupalem, Vinukonda Mandal, and said they should be ashamed of their inefficiency.
