TDP chief and opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu and his party leaders are making hue and cry on the present government’s plans to have three capitals for the State. This would take away the High Court and Secretariat from Amaravati, which is causing tremors for the TDP leaders and investors.
The TDP chief continues to claim that Amaravati is the self-finance city and the best model to be the global destination in the next five to six decades. There are two issues in this – self-finance city and global destination.
If it were to be the self-finance city, why did Chandrababu Naidu, as chief minister, went for external borrowings? Why did he raise Amaravati Bonds for Rs 2000 crore? Why did he approach the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and other national and international, domestic and global financial institutions during his tenure? Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP leaders should answer these questions.
The other issue of Amaravati becoming the global destination too is a fake claim. If Chandrababu Naidu’s claims are to be believed why did he hold all the three investment meets in Visakhapatnam and not in Amaravati? He should have shown Amaravati and told them his plans instead of taking the investors to Visakhapatnam. But he preferred this port city for the investor meets. Was it not to lure the investors by showing the beauty of this city to the investors?
If a self-proclaimed visionary like Chandrababu Naidu choose Visakhapatnam as venue for investment mobiliation or investment attraction, why not it be the State capital to further attract investors? Why is he opposing the proposal to make this city as capital and thus get greater investments?
Chandrababu Naidu had promised the farmers to give them fully developed plots by 2018, among other things. If he had the commitment towards the farmers and their ‘sacrifice’ and if he were to be so sure of this place becoming the global destination, why did he not fulfil any of the promises made to the farmers in return of their lands?
The TDP leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu, should answer these question. Will they?
