Why restrictions only on Jana Vani, asks Pawan

Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Monday wondered why the Visakhapatnam police had imposed restrictions on him from conducting Jana Vani programme on Sunday, while allowing Visakha Garjana rally held by the YSR Congress party leaders on Saturday.

“My programme was not a show of strength. It was meant for understanding the people’s problems and providing them succour. Yet, the police did not allow me to come out and reach out to the people in the name of police act,” he said.

After being confined for more than 40 hours in Novotel Hotel in Visakhapatnam, Pawan Kalyan returned to his party headquarters at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Monday evening by a chopper.

Addressing a press conference at the party office, Pawan Kalyan said when there were no law and order issues for the massive rally by the YSR Congress party on Saturday in support of three capitals, why should there be such issues for Jana Vani programme.

He said it was unfortunate that senior police officials were acting as per the directions of the YSRC leaders.

“I don’t have anything against these police officials. But the way the YSRC government is using the police to intimidate its political rivals is very bad,” he said.

“The Jagan government doesn’t want anybody to speak about Amaravati capital, the land grabbing by the YSRC leaders in Visakhapatnam or plundering of Rushikonda lands damaging the environment,” he said.

He said he would continue his fight till people of Andhra Pradesh got rid of the draconian rule of YSR Congress party in the next elections. The people of the state would breathe it easy only if the YSRC government was pulled down from power, he said.

“There is no other option to weed out rulers with criminal bent of mind. It is our ultimate objective,” he added.
