TDP chief and Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu is on a 45-day long bus yatra across the State. He is launching the yatra in Prakasam district today.
The TDP ranks were told to make the event a grand success. The yatra is mostly planned covering the areas where the party is strong besides the Kamma population.
Though the reason for the bus yatra is to get peoples’ support for Amaravati farmers and to create awareness against the failures of the YSR Congress government, there seems a hidden agenda for the tour.
The hidden agenda is seen from the IT officials tightening the screws over the raids it had conducted so far and the raids that it is said to have listed in the calendar for the days to come.
The IT had, besides other TDP leaders, mostly concentrated on Chandrababu Naidu’s long-time private secretary Srinivasa Rao.
The officials have collected the dairies, note books, loose papers and some bank lockers from him during the raids.
Srinivasa Rao had worked with Chandrababu Naidu as private secretary from 1995 till he lost the election in 2019.
As the IT officials have found some links of payment of Rs 150 crore to a “prominent person” in these raids and the fingers are being pointed at Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP leaders suspect that Naidu might be asked to be present before them for further questioning anytime in the near future.
His two arch rivals – Narendra Modi and Jaganmohan Reddy – are in power both at the Centre and in the State and the IT officials have enough evidence to prove charges against him.
In this background, the TDP leaders want Naidu to be in the midst of the people in one form or the other by the time when the IT officials call him for questioning.
Being in the midst of people would help him generate public sympathy to his advantage, the leaders believe.
It is also said that the meeting of Jaganmohan Reddy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in the last week was aimed at taking assessment of law and order in the event of the IT officials summoning Chandrababu Naidu.
The political circles believe that a road map was already prepared by the State and Central governments for knocking at the doors of Chandrababu Naidu, particularly after the IT raids on Srinivasa Rao.
Some TDP leaders also smell this road map and the political intentions of Modi-Shah at the Centre and Jaganmohan Reddy in the State to wipe out TDP from the State by fixing Chandrababu Naidu.
It is with this background information, the TDP chief is said to be on the roads for sympathy. It is to be seen if this happens or remains a speculation.
