Why KCR dropped plan to hold anti-BJP meeting?

It was exactly a month ago that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, while releasing the party’s manifesto for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, hinted at reviving his anti-BJP forum at the national level.

KCR had announced that he would hold a conclave of all the anti-BJP political parties in the country at Hyderabad in the second week of December to expose the anti-labour and anti-farmer policies of the Narendra Modi government.

He lashed out at the Modi government for enacting draconian legislations on agriculture, deciding to privatise public sector undertakings like LIC, Air India, coal mines and even railways and closure of several PSUs to benefit big industrialists. He virtually declared a war against Modi.

But after the poor show of the TRS in the GHMC elections, KCR quickly changed the tune. Within a week of the announcement of the results, he went to New Delhi and extended a friendly hand to the Modi government.

He met the Prime Minister, home minister Amit Shah and other ministers during his three-day stay, but did not make any attempt to call on the farmers who were agitating on the borders of Delhi on the same legislations which KCR had opposed firmly.

After his return from Delhi, the TRS chief has not uttered a word about his plan to hold a meeting of anti-BJP parties in Hyderabad. He did not even make an attempt to call the other regional party heads.

At a time when the Modi government was targeting West Bengal chief minister and Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, other non-BJP chief ministers extended support to her but KCR did not make any such attempt.

It was pointed out by former Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy in his tweet on Monday.

“Mamata thanks 4 CMs, Stalin for backing Bengal govt on IPS officers’ transfer issue Capt Amarinder Singh, Arvind Kejriwal, Bhupesh Baghel and Ashok Gehlot. What happened to The FEDERAL FRONT CHIEF- CM KCR? Missing!

“I think he got scared of BJP. Went to Delhi seeking leniency. Did KCR support Mamatha? No. What happened to his Federal Front? Suddenly lost the nerve. Why?” Reddy asked.

In fact, Mamata is holding a meeting of opposition party leaders in Kolkata shortly. She invited all the anti-BJP leaders but not KCR.

“Mamatha Banerjee never trusted him or respected him. Sharad Pawar ji does not trust him. Stalin and Patnaik ji do not trust or respect him,” Konda said.

The former MP said: “There is no doubt that, @MamataOfficial never believed KCR. The truth is that BJP &TRS are in mutual understanding, their goal is just to make people foolish. I hope you never falls in this trap, so be with only Congress, because this is the one party you to trust anything.”
